The CH Combin wheat variety was developed for cultivation in southern regions of Ukraine, including the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe. It is characterized by high winter hardiness, resistance to lodging and complex diseases, ensuring stable yields even under adverse climatic conditions. CH Combin tolerates dry periods well and maintains productivity during grain filling, which is especially important for regions with unstable moisture levels.
This wheat variety features an early start of vegetation and early maturity, allowing effective use of autumn-spring soil moisture reserves. Due to its photoperiod insensitivity and ability to develop well under short daylight conditions, CH Combin successfully passes the tillering phase and forms a high thousand-grain weight with excellent bread-making qualities of class E, corresponding to strong wheat varieties. Unlike late-maturing varieties, it completes grain filling before critical high temperatures occur, which is particularly relevant for southern regions of Ukraine.
CH Combin belongs to the semi-dwarf type with intensive productive tillering and minimal difference in development between main and subsequent tillers. The variety responds well to intensive nitrogen nutrition, however, strong morphogenetic regulators applied in spring are not recommended, as the variety has good lodging resistance, and under water deficit and high temperatures, such treatments may negatively affect yield. Overall, CH Combin is a reliable and high-yielding wheat variety, adapted to challenging climatic conditions and providing high-quality grain.
