Montreal is a winter wheat variety recommended for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine, including the forest-steppe zone. It is distinguished by its high yield potential, reaching 11.0 t/ha, as well as high protein content in grain — 13.7%. Plants have medium height of about 80 cm, cylindrical ear shape, large red-colored grain. Sowing rates are 4.5–5.0 million germinating seeds per hectare.
The Montreal variety exhibits high adaptability to various agroecological conditions, as confirmed by research conducted at the Kirovohrad State Variety Testing Station. It demonstrates drought resistance, high winter hardiness, and resistance to lodging. Thanks to these qualities, as well as good response to fertilizer application, the variety consistently shows high productivity even under stressful conditions and low agrobackground.
The versatility of the variety allows its use on sowing areas with different soil fertility levels. Montreal is characterized by high tillering and medium ear size, which contributes to the realization of its yield potential. Due to the combination of disease and stress resistance, as well as high agronomic performance, this variety ranks among the leading winter wheat varieties in Ukraine.
