Snowdrop

The winter wheat variety Snowdrop is a medium-maturing, high-yielding, versatile type of lutescent. This variety features medium plant height — 91-95 cm, providing good resistance to lodging. Snowdrop has a high yield potential, reaching 6.68-8 tons per hectare, and contains 14.0-14.5% protein in the grain, making it attractive for various agricultural purposes. The 1000-grain weight is 39-42 grams, indicating good grain quality.

The variety exhibits high cold and drought resistance, enabling successful cultivation in various climatic conditions, including forest-steppe and steppe regions. It has moderate resistance to powdery mildew and resistance to brown leaf rust and grain shattering. Disease and stress resistance levels are rated as follows: lodging resistance — 8.6-8.9, grain shattering resistance — 8.4-8.9, resistance to root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew — 5-6 points, ensuring reliable and stable yields.

For successful cultivation of the Snowdrop variety, the recommended seeding rate is 4.5-5.5 million viable seeds per hectare, sown during the latter half of the optimal period. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy regions. The variety was developed domestically by the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, registered in 2007.
