Wheat Romantika

Stable Yields Under High Phytopathogenic Pressure

The 'Romantyka' wheat variety, developed by the Bila Tserkva Research Station named after O.K. Kolomiiets, is a strategic choice for agricultural enterprises aiming to reduce fungicide costs without compromising grain quality. This variety excels in fields with a high risk of fungal outbreaks, providing consistent production even under challenging environmental conditions.

Defense Potential Against Foliar and Ear Infections

The practical value of 'Romantyka' lies in its natural resistance to disease. Agronomists often select this variety for areas prone to recurrent pathogen pressure. 'Romantyka' shows reliable resistance against:

• Mycosphaerella leaf spot and brown spot;
• Brown rust (a major factor in reducing the photosynthetic activity of the flag leaf);
• Fusarium head blight and powdery mildew.

Thanks to this inherent protection, producers can optimize their crop protection programs, focusing on essential seasonal applications rather than constant chemical intervention against infections.

Agronomic Advantages in the Field

In addition to its phytosanitary stability, 'Romantyka' demonstrates good lodging resistance. This is a critical factor for intensive farming systems that utilize higher rates of mineral fertilizers. The stem remains sturdy even under unfavorable weather conditions during the grain-filling stage. For the producer, this means simplified harvesting operations and minimized crop losses. The ability to resist lodging allows farmers to plan their harvesting campaign with confidence, reducing risks associated with heavy rain or strong winds prior to harvest.
