Vetcha «Biloserivska 96» – an annual moisture-loving and cold-resistant legume crop widely used as a feed in Ukraine's agriculture. It is grown on soils with sufficient looseness and limestone content, and also grows well on clayey marl. The crop is characterized by rapid growth and high digestibility: 100 kg of dry mass equals 46 feed units, and each feed unit contains about 123 g of digestible protein. The stems are ascending, almost erect, or sprawling, with a branched root system that ensures resistance to wind and water erosion.
The flowering apparatus of vetcha «Biloserivska 96» consists of self-pollinating flowers of different colors – white, pink, or purple. The flowers bloom in June-July, while the plant produces pollen and nectar, which support beekeeping. The seeds are round and compressed, have high hygroscopicity: after preliminary soaking in water, they germinate within three days, and the ability to germinate is preserved for up to four years.
The use of vetch covers several key areas. As a feed crop, it surpasses clover and even lupin in terms of digestibility: the leafy part is rich in proteins, fats, and ash elements, making it attractive for livestock. Additionally, vetch helps prevent soil erosion by holding snow and reducing freezing, and also improves soil structure by adding nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to sow in early spring (April-May) or 1.5 months before the first frost, and to apply gypsum powder after the plant reaches a height of 2-3 cm. Vetcha «Biloserivska 96» is a reliable and unpretentious tool in care, ensuring stable and high-quality yield in various agronomic conditions.
