Vicia arvensis «LygvoVskaya 22» – an annual leguminous plant valued for its hardiness and high disease resistance. Seeds weighing 500 g are easily sown in open ground from early February to late April; sowing in May is possible under suitable climatic conditions. The plant grows quickly, reaching a height of 30 to 60 cm, and forms dense leaves, as well as large white flowers.
The variety serves as green manure, fodder, and nectar-producing crop. Thanks to its ability to fix nitrogen and drought resistance, «LygvoVskaya 22» is often used in intermediate sowings after cereal crops (wheat, barley) and before planting corn or soy. The yield is usually 200–300 kg/ha under optimal conditions: warm climate, fertile soil, and sufficient irrigation.
Care for the plant is simple: watering 2–3 times a week at temperatures of 20–25 °C; the first time – with the addition of nitrogen fertilizers to accelerate growth. It is important to control pests (moths, legume beetles) and phytopathogenic microorganisms (Fusarium and Alternaria fungi), which can affect roots and fruits at early developmental stages. Thanks to these characteristics, «LygvoVskaya 22» is a valuable addition to agricultural schemes, providing both soil structure improvement and additional feed for livestock and poultry.
