Lorian – a hybrid wheat variety developed within the 'Grossheim' program. It is characterized by high yield of up to 8–9 tons/ha and good grain quality with high protein content. Seeds germinate at 18–20 °C; sowing is carried out 15–20 days after the beginning of spring, ensuring rapid vegetative development.
The variety possesses resistance to major diseases – powdery mildew and powdery rust, and demonstrates good drought and cold tolerance. Stems are 150–180 cm high, hairless, with a sprawling bush habit and an abundance of 60–64 %. Leaves are 8–12 cm long, paired, without a waxy coating, while the inflorescences are bluish-violet ears 10–17 cm high. Pods are brown, 25–30 mm long, containing two to four seeds; grains are round, dark brown, and hard.
Lorian is widely used in both industrial and household production. Due to the high yield of dry matter (90–100 c/ha) and good resistance to pests, the variety is suitable for feed crop rotations, the creation of long-lasting hay meadows, and silage production. Its multi-year productivity allows obtaining up to 30 tons/ha of green mass in the first year and up to 130–150 tons/ha after several harvests, making it a valuable resource for stable feed supply.
