Vusata is a variety of the annual herbaceous species Vicia (Vicia), belonging to the legume family. It is widely used in agriculture as a forage and cover crop due to its high yield, resistance to external factors, and rich nutritional composition.
The culture grows on moderately moist soils with good drainage. Vicia Vusata is distinguished by its high drought tolerance and high protein content, making it a valuable feed for livestock during the budding phase until the beginning of grain formation. Green mass is harvested during full flowering, and at a later date – during the blue pea phase, when silage or hay can be obtained.
For sowing Vusata, a depth of 3–6 cm and a sowing rate of 70 to 150 kg/ha is recommended depending on the specific variety (winter version is usually sown in a mixture with wheat). Optimal crop rotation timing is late August, and green mass yield can reach 300–400 kg/ha, while grain amount is 800–1600 kg/ha. The culture is also often used in mixed cropping systems with other cereal crops, such as wheat, corn, or Sudan grass, which increases overall productivity and improves soil structure.
