Vetch Volodimir

Organic Soil Restoration with «Volodymyr» Vetch

The «Volodymyr» vetch variety, developed by the Ukrainian originators at Ikhgp Naan, has established itself as a reliable asset in sustainable farming. Designed primarily as a green manure crop (siderate), it bridges the gap between intensive production and long-term soil health management.

Agronomic Value and Application

As a legume, the «Volodymyr» variety is a functional tool for nitrogen management in crop rotation. Unlike synthetic fertilizers, this vetch builds soil fertility through biological processes. Its integration into the field management plan is a strategic move for farmers aiming to improve soil organic matter content and structure.

• Nitrogen Accumulation: Acts as a biological nitrogen source, significantly reducing the reliance on chemical fertilizers for subsequent cereal or row crops.
• Soil Mechanics: Its root system is effective at alleviating soil compaction, which is essential for improved water infiltration and overall root development for following crops.
• Weed Suppression: The rapid early-season biomass production helps in outcompeting weeds, reducing the need for early-stage herbicides.

«Volodymyr» is specifically bred to meet the conditions of Ukrainian fields. Its ease of incorporation into the soil and subsequent mineralization make it an ideal choice for producers looking for a predictable and sustainable outcome. By focusing on soil biological activity, this variety ensures that the agricultural land remains productive and resilient for future seasons.
