Description DARYA
The variable sweet clover variety 'Darya' was developed by the Penza Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture using polycross methods based on the 'Tatarskaya Pastbishnaya' variety and VIR collection samples. It features a semi-erect bush ranging from 70 to 96 cm in height with high branching density, reaching 38-45 stems. The leaves are inversely obovate, dark green in color with slight pubescence and a weak waxy coating. The root system is robust, featuring a radial arrangement of lateral roots and ground-level shoots, which contributes to the plant's productive longevity. Inflorescences are represented by corymbose or cylindrical racemes with flowers predominantly variegated or blue-violet in color, with yellow coloring also observed in some flowers. Seeds are kidney-shaped, with a mass of 2.1-2.2 g per 1000 seeds. The 'Darya' variety is distinguished by high yield and excellent fodder qualities. Average green mass yield is approximately 47.2-47.9 t/ha, exceeding standard variety indicators. Seed yield reaches 281-283 kg/ha. Protein content in the plant mass averages 12.4%, while crude protein harvest reaches 2.55-2.73 t/ha, significantly surpassing standards. Fiber content is at the level of 27.2%. Average dry matter yield across various regions varies from 56.7 to 75.1 c/ha, also exceeding standard averages. The variety tolerates early cutting well and is suitable for both mowing and pasture use. Sweet clover 'Darya' possesses high winter hardiness (up to 99-100% in the first year of use and 95-98% in subsequent years), good drought resistance, and resistance to major diseases such as leaf brown spot, root rots, and mycoplasmosis. Plant damage from diseases and pests is minimal, ensuring yield stability and extending the grassland usage period by 1-2 years. For successful cultivation, the application of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, as well as seed scarification and inoculation, is recommended. The sowing rate is 3 kg/ha for bare sowing and 5 kg/ha under cover crops. Growing this variety ensures high productivity and economic efficiency, evidenced by a net income of up to 20-22 thousand rubles per hectare.
