Vegetable Pea BOBSLEY

Cultivation Insight: The «Bobsleigh» Pea

The «Bobsleigh» vegetable pea, developed by VNIIISSOK, is designed for growers who prioritize efficiency and a fast market entry. With a vegetative period of 50–60 days, it is a highly productive tool for intensive crop rotation, allowing for early clearing of land for subsequent plantings.

Operational Performance

In the field, this variety delivers consistent results. The pods reach 8–10 cm in length, which is optimal for both manual harvesting and mechanical processing. Each pod contains 8–10 peas, ensuring a high yield density per hectare and reducing the overhead time during sorting and packaging operations.

Crop Management and Maintenance

• Irrigation: Consistent water supply is essential during the pod-filling phase. Moisture stress during this critical window directly affects grain weight and flavor profile.
• Fertilization: «Bobsleigh» responds well to phosphorous and potassium-based fertilizers, which reinforce the stalk structure and optimize the overall root system development.
• Harvest Timing: Efficiency here is about timing. Harvesting at the peak of 'milk maturity' is vital; delaying the harvest by even a few days can result in reduced tenderness and yellowing of the grain, significantly impacting commercial grade.

«Bobsleigh» is straightforward to manage, requiring minimal specialized labor but demanding high precision in harvest scheduling. It is a reliable asset for farmers seeking a high-quality early harvest with predictable operational performance.
