Skinado vegetable pea — a mid-season variety developed by the Dutch seed company Syngenta Seeds, successfully grown in various agroclimatic zones of Ukraine. The plant reaches a height of about 90 cm, features strong, sturdy stems with abundant foliage, which promotes active pod formation even under high solar activity and spring frosts. The maturation period varies from 50 to 65 days after planting, making it suitable for both open ground and temporary cover.
Skinado pea pods are large-seeded, dark green or emerald in color, with a uniform and attractive appearance. Pods can reach up to 13 cm in length and contain 7 to 11 peas, characterized by a sweet taste and slight wrinkling. The plant forms approximately 13–14 pods per plant, ensuring high yield and excellent product quality. The pea is suitable for fresh consumption, as well as freezing, canning, and culinary processing.
The Skinado variety exhibits high resistance to several diseases, including fusarium, root rot, and viral tip yellows, as well as good drought and heat tolerance. Its prolonged fruiting and adaptability to various growing conditions make it an ideal choice for gardeners and farmers seeking a stable and high-quality vegetable pea harvest.
