SV 0893 YUF is a vegetable pea characterized by excellent taste qualities and versatility in application. The peas have a dark green color, large, uniform, and very sweet grains that are juicy and tender. Due to simultaneous ripening, the first harvest can be conducted as early as 42-45 days after sowing, which allows the product to be used fresh, as well as for canning, drying, and freezing. A feature of the variety is its stem breakage resistance, which facilitates harvest collection and improves its quality.
For growing SV 0893 YUF, it is recommended to choose loose, fertile soils, such as clay-loam or sandy loam, with sufficient phosphorus and potassium content. Peas tolerate hot and stressful conditions well, are frost-resistant down to -7 °C, which allows for early sowing. For good germination, the optimal soil temperature is 4-5 °C, and the sowing depth is 3-5 cm depending on the soil type. An important stage of agronomy is timely weed removal, soil loosening, and moisture maintenance, especially during flowering and pod formation, when the plant is particularly in need of water.
The nutritional value of peas is high: in 100 g of dry product there are about 360 kcal, 21.9 g of proteins, 65.1 g of carbohydrates, and 1 g of fats. To prepare the peas, they must be rinsed, covered with water in a ratio of 1:3, and boiled over low heat for 35-45 minutes. The product is packed in a polyethylene bag weighing 500 g and has a shelf life of 15 months. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, as well as pests like the pea moth, SV 0893 YUF is a reliable and high-yielding variety of vegetable peas.
