Description Amphidiploid 52
Amphidiploid 52 is a winter triticale variety intended for baking purposes, registered in the Ukrainian Plant Variety Register in 2008. It is characterized by medium maturity with a vegetation period of 275–285 days and plant height of 110–130 cm. The ear is glabrous, white, racemose, 9–12 cm long, dense, with awn-like serrated projections 0.5–3.5 cm long. The grain is red, oval-shaped, smooth, with a 1000-grain weight of 40–52 g. The plants have strong stems resistant to lodging, as well as enhanced winter hardiness (7.5 points) and high drought and disease resistance.

The potential grain yield of Amphidiploid 52 exceeds 9.0 t/ha. The flour obtained from this triticale has a yellow color, semolina-like structure, and high yield (78–85%), making it excellent for baking and blending purposes. The variety is recommended for planting on fallow land, perennial grasses, and after corn for silage. Optimal sowing dates are from September 1 to 15, with a seeding rate of 3–5 million viable seeds per hectare depending on sowing time and preceding crops.

The Amphidiploid 52 variety was developed at the Laboratory of Triticale Selection and Genetics of the Institute of Plant Protection named after V. Ya. Yur’ev, NAAN, which has been developing new high-yielding, stable, baking-quality, and highly adaptable varieties since 1950. This variety is distinguished by enhanced resistance to biotic and abiotic factors, ensuring its technological suitability and drought tolerance.
