Markian is an winter triticale variety developed and registered in 2015 by the Institute of Plant Physiology named after V.Ya. Yuryev of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine in collaboration with the Volyn State Agricultural Experimental Station. This variety is recommended for sowing in various climatic zones, including Polissia, forest-steppe, and steppe, demonstrating its adaptability and versatility.
The Markian variety is distinguished by high yield and stable performance, achieved through the selective work of the Laboratory of Selection and Genetics of Winter Triticale. Within research efforts, over 25 triticale varieties have been developed, among which Markian holds an important place due to its excellent baking qualities. The grain of this variety produces bread volume exceeding 550 ml when baked without additives, confirmed by an overall quality rating of baking properties at 9 points.
Moreover, Markian exhibits resistance to various biotic and abiotic factors, making it a reliable choice for agricultural enterprises. The Laboratory of Selection and Genetics of Triticale also provides scientific support for agricultural organizations, contributing to the effective use of the variety and increased productivity of crops.
