Fodder beet Red Cloud F1

Technological potential of the Red Cloud F1 hybrid

Bejo's breeding program focuses on high-performance solutions for commercial vegetable growing, and Red Cloud F1 embodies the concept of 'stability through genetics.' This mid-late hybrid (110–120 days) demonstrates outstanding results in long-term storage trials, which is directly linked to its specific physiological traits.

Morphological resilience and sanitary defense

A key advantage of this hybrid is its pronounced tolerance to a complex of diseases that typically limit beet yields. Genetic resistance to downy mildew (peronospora) and Fusarium wilt allows for reduced pesticide applications during the growing season. Under conditions of high humidity or temperature swings, the plant maintains a healthy canopy, which is critical for proper root development.

Processing and storage quality

Red Cloud F1 roots feature a perfectly uniform, round shape, which simplifies automated washing, grading, and peeling on industrial processing lines. The intense dark-red color, free of distinct light radial rings, confirms a high betanin content, making this hybrid a top choice for producing natural food colorants and canned goods. The dense internal structure ensures minimal weight loss when kept in professional cold storage facilities.
