Bikores is a late-maturing, high-yielding variety developed by the Dutch company Bejo Zaden. The period from germination to maturity is 120-125 days, allowing for stable yields in various climatic conditions, though the variety is especially well-suited to southern regions of Ukraine. Due to its robust root system, Bikores exhibits high growth activity and drought resistance, promoting intensive accumulation of mass and nutrients from the soil. Additionally, the variety is resistant to cercospora, significantly reducing disease risks and yield losses.
The roots of Bikores beet are round, uniform in size, and have a smooth skin. The flesh is a uniform dark burgundy color without radial rings, with moderate sweetness, containing approximately 8.7% sugar (BRIX) and 11.6% dry matter. The fruit weight ranges from 250 to 450 grams, and the diameter reaches 10-15 cm. The leaf rosette is small, which simplifies care and harvesting. The potential yield is 4 to 5.5 kg per square meter, making Bikores an attractive choice for commercial cultivation.
Bikores beet stores well and is suitable for long-distance transportation, preserving its flavor and nutritional qualities. The harvest can be marketed immediately after collection or stored for longer periods. This variety is versatile in use: it is suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and the preparation of nutritious vitamin juices and smoothies. The usual sowing period is April-May, with seed depth of 3-4 cm, ensuring optimal conditions for germination and plant development.
