Table beet variety Monika is a mid-season hybrid with a vegetation period of 100 to 115 days. The leaf rosette is semi-upright, with oval-shaped, green leaves having moderate leaf margin waviness and purple petiole undersides. The roots are round, smooth, and medium-sized, weighing 225 to 365 grams. The flesh is a rich dark red color, free of distinct rings and coarse fibers, ensuring a pleasant sweet taste and high flavor quality.
Monika variety is characterized by high market yield, reaching 276 to 531 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 617 centners per hectare. Dry matter content ranges from 13.7% to 15.8%, and total sugar content from 9.9% to 12.4%. Due to its resistance to bolting and diseases, this hybrid is widely used in agriculture. The variety is produced in Czechia and is an improved version of the Bona variety.
Monika is versatile in application: when sown early, the roots are suitable for immediate consumption, and when sown later, they store well during winter, making them suitable for storage, canning, and freezing. High storage capability and attractive market appearance make this variety an optimal choice for culinary use and processing.
