Table beet of Monika variety is a mid-season type with vegetation period from 100 to 115 days, allowing it to be used both for early consumption and long storage. The plant forms a semi-erect rosette of leaves with an oval shape and moderate wavy edge, while the petioles have a characteristic purple shade on the lower side. Root crops are distinguished by their rounded shape, smooth surface, and medium size, weighing from 225 to 365 grams. The beet flesh is dark red in color, without pronounced rings or coarse fibers, which provides a pleasant sweet taste and high flavor qualities.
The content of dry matter in the root crops ranges from 13.7 to 15.8%, and the level of total sugar reaches 9.9-12.4%, making the variety especially attractive for culinary use. Monika beet is universal: it is suitable for consumption fresh, canning, freezing, and winter storage. Thanks to its high marketable yield, which can reach up to 617 centners per hectare, and resistance to bolting, this variety is in great demand among producers and consumers.
The production of the variety is carried out by Moravoseeds, and it is an improved version of the well-known Bonna variety. Monika beet has good density of root crops, attractive appearance, and the ability to maintain its marketable look for a long time. The variety is resistant to stressful conditions and diseases, making it convenient for mechanical harvesting and versatile in application both for fresh market and processing.
