Table Beet MONDORO

Optimizing Storage and Marketability

The 'Mondoro' cultivar, developed by VNIISSOK, is a strategic choice for commercial farms focused on long-term storage and consistent quality. Unlike many standard varieties, this table beet is prized for its uniform, deep-red flesh that completely lacks the light-colored concentric rings often associated with lower-grade produce. This makes it an ideal candidate for both fresh market retailers and commercial food processors.

Operational Advantages

For growers, the primary appeal of 'Mondoro' lies in its predictability during harvest and storage cycles. The round shape and uniform sizing facilitate mechanized harvesting, which reduces manual labor costs and minimizes damage during handling.

• Extended Shelf Life: The root structure remains dense and succulent even after months in climate-controlled storage facilities.
• Uniform Internal Quality: The absence of white rings ensures consistent coloring, which is essential for processing and consumer appeal.
• Logistics Efficiency: The consistent shape leads to minimal waste during trimming and sizing processes, maximizing the yield of marketable product.

Selecting 'Mondoro' allows operations to plan for winter sales with confidence. By meeting exact agronomic requirements for planting and harvest, producers achieve a high degree of uniformity across the entire crop. It is a robust, reliable option for businesses looking to maintain high-quality supply chains throughout the winter and spring seasons.
