Description Tunica
Sugar beet of the Tunica variety is a high-yielding crop with high sugar content, reaching 18-20%. This variety is characterized by an oval-conical root shape, which penetrates into the soil to about 85%. The leaf rosette is of medium size, dark green in color, and spreading in shape, indicating good plant development. Tunica is distinguished by its resistance to drought, cold, various diseases, and lodging, ensuring stable yields and good root storability. It is recommended for harvesting at medium maturity, which allows optimal use of agronomic potential. For successful sugar beet cultivation, the optimal germination temperature for Tunica seeds is in the range of 13-15°C, although they can germinate even at +5°C. A key factor affecting sugar content and yield is sufficient light; insufficient light negatively impacts both quality and quantity of the product. Due to its agronomic characteristics, this variety is widely used in agriculture in Ukraine and other regions with suitable climatic conditions. In addition to sugar production, the roots of sugar beet Tunica are used in various fields. They are an excellent feed for livestock and poultry, making them a valuable component in farmsteads. Moreover, white sugar beet is rich in minerals such as potassium, iron, magnesium, manganese, and phosphorus, expanding its applications in culinary uses, for example, in baking and salads. This variety is also in demand in distillation due to its high sugar content and quality of raw material.
