Sugar beet SKL 6279

Stable yields with minimal risks

When working with the SKL 6279 hybrid from the Pervomayskaya Research Station, you immediately notice its reliability in the field. This is a sugar beet of the “normal-sugar” type (NZ) that is quite forgiving regarding minor delays in the spraying schedule. The oval-conical shape of the medium-sized root is ideal for mechanized harvesting: tops are removed cleanly, and harvest losses during machine operation are kept to a minimum.

A Phytosanitary Shield

The main advantage of this hybrid is its innate immunity. In high-humidity conditions, when surrounding crops start to succumb to cercospora leaf spot, the SKL 6279 remains resilient.

• High resistance to root rot in the early growth stages, resulting in uniform emergence and minimal stand loss.
• Strong tolerance to powdery mildew and downy mildew, which allows for reduced fungicide applications without sacrificing foliage.

For a farmer, this means a lower pesticide load per hectare and, consequently, a lower cost of production per ton. Moreover, the sugar content of 18-19% remains stable even when weather conditions are unfavorable during the second half of the growing season.

Cultivation Economics

SKL 6279 is a choice for those who prioritize raw material quality. It is easy to work with: it does not require specialized cultivation techniques and is well-adapted for standard planters and harvesters. The lack of excessive “hairy” roots simplifies cleaning at receiving stations, which directly impacts the trash content coefficient and, therefore, the final sale price. If you are looking for a balance between yield and crop protection, the Pervomayskaya Research Station has developed a truly dependable tool for the field.
