Sugar beet Twister

Stability and Protection: The Potential of "Twister" Hybrid

Sugar beet "Twister" from the Danish breeding center Maribo Seed is a balanced solution for farmers working in regions with high infection pressure. The key feature of this hybrid lies in its genetic resistance to a complex of pathogens that annually reduce yields in intensive farming systems.

Crop Health

Maribo Seed's breeding focus is on risk mitigation, and "Twister" demonstrates excellent performance in this regard. The hybrid shows high tolerance to powdery mildew and cercospora — the primary threats to sugar beet crops. Resistance to root rot (damping-off) at early growth stages ensures uniform emergence without the need for excessive reseeding, while resistance to various types of rot preserves crop quality during storage.

Root Morphology

"Twister" develops medium-sized, cylindrical-conical roots. This configuration is highly convenient for mechanized harvesting: the roots are easily extracted from the soil with minimal impurities and damage, which is critical for efficient logistics to processing plants.

Who Should Choose "Twister"?

This hybrid is optimal for farms that:

• Are focused on reducing fungicide costs due to the hybrid's natural disease resistance.
• Work on soils with a high existing pathogen load.
• Require a reliable variety that behaves predictably under standard cultivation practices.

Despite its high reliability, "Twister" requires adherence to optimal sowing times, as its biological potential is best realized with high-quality management during the early stages of vegetation.
