Description S 2160 M
S 2160 M is a sugar beet hybrid distinguished by high yield and resistance to major diseases. The root crop yield reaches 92 tons per hectare with a sugar content of 18.4%. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to rhizomania, cercosporosis, powdery mildew, and anthracnose, ensuring crop stability under various climatic conditions. The recommended sowing rate is 1.4 seeding units per hectare, which is optimal for cultivation in the Polesie, forest-steppe, and steppe regions. Sugar beet is a heat-loving and heat-resistant crop; the optimal temperature for its growth and development is 20-22°C, though photosynthesis proceeds effectively at temperatures above 40°C. The plant requires sufficient moisture, especially during the intensive root growth period in July-August. Thanks to a well-developed root system capable of absorbing water from depths up to 2.5 meters, beet possesses good drought resistance. Seeds germinate within a wide temperature range from +4 to +17°C, with emergence time depending on temperature. In autumn, the crop can withstand frost down to -5°C without compromising sugar accumulation. Sugar beet is a biennial plant, forming an elongated root crop with firm white flesh and rosette-forming basal leaves in the first year. During processing, the entire product is utilized without waste: sugar, pulp, molasses, and defectate are obtained. Molasses is used in the production of alcohol, glycerin, citric acid, yeast, and organic acids. Defectate serves as a valuable fertilizer, while pulp acts as nutritious fodder for livestock. Additionally, ethanol is produced from sugar beet, which can be used as alternative fuel.
