TSM 60809

TSM 60809 is a sugar beet variety possessing high agronomic and technological characteristics. The root crop has a cylinder-cone shape with a smooth surface and an average weight of about 700 grams, which facilitates harvesting and reduces soil contamination. The plant is characterized by a powerful taproot system penetrating up to 2-2.5 meters deep, ensuring drought resistance and allowing efficient use of moisture from deep soil layers. The vegetation period is up to 120 days, with medium maturation dates, which allows growing the crop in moderate climates with variable weather conditions. The leaf rosette is semi-spreading, with medium-sized whole and moderately corrugated leaf plates. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to major sugar beet diseases such as cercosporosis, powdery mildew, and root rot, which reduces crop losses and improves product quality. Due to its versatility, TSM 60809 is used not only for sugar and molasses production but also in cooking—for preparing borscht and kvass—as well as a high-nutrient feed crop. TSM 60809 sugar beet contains 18-20% sugar, making it attractive for industrial cultivation and processing. In 100 kg of root crops, there are about 25 feed units and 1.2 kg of digestible protein, while the tops provide an additional 20 feed units and 2.2 kg of digestible protein, making the variety a valuable source of feed for livestock. Sowing is recommended in April at a depth of 2-3 cm with a row spacing of 20x50 cm, and harvesting from July to September. High seed germination and adaptability to various climatic conditions ensure a stable and abundant harvest.
