Sugarcane beet variety 309-1/96 is intended for growing in the central regions of Russia and is characterized by high adaptability to various climatic conditions, including resistance to heat and cold. This variety is distinguished by its high sugar content, making it a valuable raw material for producing quality sugar and other food products. The plant is of medium height with semi-erect leaves of medium length and width, possessing medium intensity of green coloration and a lack of anthocyanin pigmentation.
The root crop has a cylindroconical shape, an average weight of about 700 grams, with a smooth surface, which facilitates harvesting and reduces soil adhesion. The root crop is deeply immersed in the soil and has a small head. The root system is taproot, penetrating to a depth of up to 2-2.5 meters, which contributes to the plant's drought resistance and ensures good nutrition. The vegetation period is up to 120 days, corresponding to medium maturation periods.
The variety is resistant to major sugar beet diseases such as cercospora, powdery mildew, and root rot, which increases its reliability and yield. Thanks to its universal and waste-free purpose, all parts of the plant find application: root crops are used in cooking for preparing borscht and kvass, as well as for feed purposes, in addition, the variety is widely used in technical processing for producing sugar and molasses. It is recommended to sow in April at a depth of 2-3 cm with a row spacing of 20x50 cm, harvesting is carried out from July to September.
