Sugar beet Vitara

Stable Sugar Beet Yield with «Vitara»

For agronomists operating in regions with high infection pressure, «Vitara» from the Serbian Institut Za Ratarstvo I Povrtarstvo is a proven risk management tool. This sugar beet hybrid is designed for farms that prioritize not only high yields but also predictable raw material quality under stressful environmental conditions.

Phytosanitary Resistance as a Priority

The key feature of «Vitara» is its comprehensive tolerance to the most common pathogens. In field conditions, the hybrid demonstrates high efficacy against:

• Cercospora leaf spot, which is traditionally the main yield-limiting factor in temperate climates;
• Powdery mildew, capable of significantly reducing the photosynthetic activity of the leaf canopy;
• Root rot and various decay types that affect the crop at different vegetation stages.

Such genetic protection allows farmers to optimize their fungicide application schedules, reducing the overall pesticide load on the crops without sacrificing disease control.

Root Crop Economics

«Vitara» produces medium-sized roots, which is convenient for standard harvesters and ensures efficient extraction from the soil with minimal losses. From the sugar mill's perspective, the hybrid is attractive due to its stable sugar accumulation (17–18%), ensuring high processing productivity. Using this hybrid is justified in intensive farming systems where a balance between yield potential and harvesting efficiency is essential.
