Sugar beet MS FDSR 001

French Breeding in the Field: Working with MS FDSR 001

When dealing with sugar beets, disease resistance is the first priority. Using the MS FDSR 001 hybrid from Florimond-Desprez Veuve et Fils, you immediately notice the breeder's professional approach to crop protection. This type 00 hybrid is focused on high efficiency, which, in practice, means fewer headaches with fungicide applications.

Root Health and Resilience

The core asset of this hybrid is its innate immunity. Its resistance to seedling blight ensures a uniform stand, which is vital for meeting yield targets.

Technical Aspects and Harvesting

The root shape is cylindrical-conical — the "golden mean" for modern harvesters. Its medium size makes it easy to calibrate machinery for minimum harvesting losses. Harvesting is straightforward: the beet pulls out of the soil easily without snapping, and the tip remains intact. For the operator, this means a cleaner hopper and significantly less trash load during factory delivery.

• Type 00: A perfect balance between sugar content and root mass.
• High tolerance to a complex of foliar and soil-borne pathogens.
• Optimal geometry to reduce mechanical harvesting losses.

If you are looking for a reliable hybrid that forgives minor mistakes in crop protection and delivers a predictable, high-quality harvest, MS FDSR 001 from Florimond-Desprez is a solid choice. It is a clear example of French genetics working for the farmer's profit in any climate.
