Sugar beet is an important technical crop, widely grown in Ukraine. Seeds of this crop can germinate at temperatures from +5°C, although optimal growth conditions are considered to be in the range of 13-15°C. Modern sugar beet varieties are characterized by high sugar content, reaching 18-20%, making it a valuable raw material for the sugar industry. To ensure high yield and sugar content of plants, a sufficient amount of light is required, as its lack negatively affects the development of the crop.

The sugar beet plant has medium height and is characterized by a short-conical root crop of medium length and narrow shape, which is deeply buried in the soil. The leaves are upright, with a long petiole and a medium-length blade, possessing weak intensity of green coloration and a lack of anthocyanin pigmentation. The petiole is light green with a white-green base, while the leaf blade has medium width and a blunt apex. Such morphological features ensure optimal plant development and its adaptation to growing conditions.

Successful sugar beet cultivation requires comprehensive protection from harmful organisms. In agrotechnology, herbicidal treatments and the use of specialized preparations such as Betanal® max Pro and MD are applied, which effectively combat weeds and pests. Additionally, proper hybrid selection and ensuring plants with necessary nutrition contribute to increasing crop resistance and improving its productivity. Such an approach allows maximizing the preservation of plant health and ensuring a high yield of quality raw material.
