Sugar beet Crocodile

Stable Yields in High Infection Pressure Environments

The sugar beet hybrid «Krokodil» from the Belgian breeding company Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa is the choice for agronomists operating in fields with a high risk of pathogen exposure. This hybrid belongs to the classic Normal type (N) and features a diploid structure, making it a reliable and predictable tool for intensive farming operations.

Field Application Scenarios

The primary challenge this hybrid addresses is the management of soil-borne and foliar infections without sacrificing productivity. In crop rotations where sugar beets return to the same field more frequently than every 3-4 years, having resilient genetic potential is critical.

• Rhizomania Resistance: The hybrid possesses robust immunity against the necrotic yellow vein virus, allowing for cultivation in infected areas without the risk of significant root yield loss.
• Cercospora Management: High tolerance to leaf diseases significantly reduces the pressure on fungicide protection programs. It allows farmers to optimize spraying schedules and prevent the premature die-back of the leaf canopy during the latter half of the growing season.

The Normal (N) type makes «Krokodil» a versatile solution for operations targeting medium to late harvest dates. The plant demonstrates steady sugar accumulation and high root weight, ensuring predictable yields per hectare. Its diploid structure ensures uniform emergence and crop stand, which simplifies the calibration of machinery for inter-row cultivation and harvesting equipment.
