Sugar beet Marischka KWS

Genetic Foundation of Productivity

Marishka KWS from the German breeding giant KWS is a sugar beet hybrid of the normal type (N-type). This is a balanced hybrid designed to find the optimal equilibrium between root yield and high sugar extraction. In modern intensive farming, this selection strategy minimizes the risk of profitability loss caused by weather fluctuations.

Biological Defense as a Core Solution

The technological advantage of this hybrid lies in its complex genetic resistance. Under conditions of high infection pressure, characteristic of many sugar beet regions, the key defensive features include:

• Rhizomania Resistance: The integration of genes for tolerance to Beet Necrotic Yellow Vein Virus (BNYVV) allows for the preservation of yield potential even on infected fields where other varieties show significant root mass reduction.
• Cercospora Control: High levels of field resistance to Cercospora leaf spot allow for the optimization of fungicide application schedules. This not only lowers the cost of production per ton but also keeps the leaf canopy active until late autumn, which is critical for maximizing sugar accumulation.

Cultivation Insights

The normal development type (N) makes Marishka KWS a predictable tool for agronomists. The hybrid demonstrates consistency under standard planting patterns and remains highly responsive to intensive mineral fertilization. The physiological characteristics are geared toward developing a root with optimal geometry, which minimizes harvesting losses and facilitates soil removal, effectively reducing the dirt tare at the sugar factory gate.
