Description Lavina
Sugar beet of the Lavina variety is a reliable and time-tested diploid hybrid registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2006. This high-yielding hybrid of normal type is adapted for cultivation in all zones and provides a stable yield of root crops with high sugar content regardless of conditions. Plants have semi-erect rosettes with large leaf blades on short petioles, and the root crops have a slender conical shape fully buried in the soil, which facilitates harvesting and minimizes damage. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to diseases such as rhizomania, cercosporosis, and leaf diseases, contributing to the preservation of both quality and quantity of the harvest. To protect sugar beet crops of the Lavina variety from annual broadleaf and grass weeds, the selective herbicide Lavina based on the active ingredient metamitron (700 g/l) is applied. The preparation is available as a concentrate suspension and is used at a rate of 2.0 l/ha with a working solution application rate of 200-250 l/ha. The herbicide has soil and post-emergence action, effectively eliminating weeds for 40-60 days after application. It exerts low phytotoxicity on crop plants and can be applied at the early vegetative stage, as well as under frequent rainfall, ensuring reliable protection of crops. Optimal harvest time for Lavina variety root crops falls in the middle of the season, allowing maximum utilization of the hybrid's potential. Continuous weed control during the vegetative period promotes uninterrupted growth and development of plants, ensuring high yields. Due to its disease resistance, convenient root crop shape, and effective weed control, the Lavina hybrid is a profitable choice for sugar beet producers aiming for stable and high-quality yields.
