ES Saxon

Sunflower ES Saxon is a medium-early simple interline hybrid developed for the herbicide treatment technology Granstar (Express). It features high resistance to 7 races of downy mildew (A-G+), as well as tolerance to Phomopsis, various leaf and head rots. The hybrid possesses genetic resistance to new races of powdery mildew, ensuring reliable plant protection and stable yields under various climatic conditions.

ES Saxon plants are tall, with stem height reaching 170-210 cm and head diameter around 21 cm. Seeds have medium size, with 1000 seeds weight reaching 65 grams. The vegetative period is 112-115 days, allowing the hybrid to successfully grow in steppe, forest-steppe, and forested regions. Yield potential reaches 57 c/ha, with average yields in southern Ukraine ranging from 15-40 c/ha. Oil content in seeds is at a high level — 50-52%.

The hybrid exhibits high drought tolerance, adaptability, and high economic value. It has a high degree of self-pollination, which is especially important for regions with low natural pollinator density, ensuring stable and high yields. Recommended plant density varies depending on soil moisture: 50-55 thousand/ha in areas with insufficient moisture and up to 60 thousand/ha in areas with adequate moisture. Additionally, the herbicide Granstar, applied for hybrid protection, rapidly degrades in soil, which does not restrict subsequent crop planting in crop rotation.
