Sugar beet BTS 8835

Stable yields in high-risk zones

The BTS 8835 sugar beet hybrid, developed by the American breeding house Betaseed, is designed for farms dealing with complex soil-borne and foliar pathogens. This hybrid is an excellent choice for fields with a history of intensive Cercospora or Fusarium pressure, ensuring sugar content levels are maintained until harvest.

Agrotechnological advantages

• Pathogen Defense: The hybrid possesses robust resistance to powdery mildew and Cercospora. This allows agronomists to optimize fungicide application schedules, reducing chemical load on crops during critical growth stages.
• Root Health: Genetic resistance to Aphanomyces root rot makes BTS 8835 a reliable solution for areas with heavy or waterlogged soils, where root infection risks are highest during early development.
• Harvest Efficiency: The conical root shape is more than a morphological trait; it ensures clean and efficient harvesting. This configuration minimizes mechanical damage during lifting and allows the root to release from the soil more easily, significantly reducing post-harvest losses.

Practical application of BTS 8835 yields the best results when following the seeding density guidelines provided by the originators (Betaseed, Betaseed Italia, Henning Friehe). The hybrid displays uniform growth, which simplifies equipment calibration and ensures consistent operating depth for harvesting machinery. Investing in this hybrid serves as a hedge against yield losses from diseases that typically claim up to 15-20% of sugar beet potential.
