Sugar beet BTS 903 UA

Stable Yields Under High Disease Pressure

Selecting a sugar beet hybrid is always about balancing production potential with resistance to local pathogens. BTS 903 UA from the American company Betaseed is engineered for growers who prioritize protecting their crops from leaf and root diseases without sacrificing root weight.

This hybrid belongs to the high-yield (E) type, which determines its primary mission: maximizing sugar output per hectare while maintaining optimal root size. Its genetics allow the crop to effectively utilize soil nutrients, translating them directly into biomass.

Field Performance and Agronomic Benefits

• Healthy Foliage: Strong resistance to Cercospora leaf spot reduces the need for heavy fungicide applications during the growing season, preserving the photosynthetic surface until harvest.
• Rot Resistance: The hybrid shows robust resistance to Fusarium rot. This is critical for farms with intensive crop rotation schedules or fields prone to excessive moisture, where soil-borne pathogens are a constant threat.
• Harvest Efficiency: The broad-conical root shape facilitates easier extraction by mechanical harvesters, significantly reducing losses during the digging process.

Field Application: BTS 903 UA is ideal for intensive farming systems with high seeding density requirements. Its resilience against rot and common leaf diseases makes it a reliable choice for regions with moderate to humid climates where pathogen pressure is above average. Agronomists choose this hybrid to minimize quality degradation risks during storage and transport to sugar processing facilities.
