Sugar beet Buran

Harnessing Domestic Breeding: The "Buran" Hybrid

The "Buran" sugar beet hybrid, developed by SoyuzSemSvekla, is the result of focused research by Russian breeders V. A. Sukhorukikh and R. V. Berdnikov. This hybrid was engineered specifically for intensive farming environments, where the primary objective is to balance high root yields with superior quality traits under varying climatic conditions.

Technical Profile and Productivity

The standout feature of "Buran" is its high sugar concentration, which consistently reaches 18–20% in commercial fields. For processors, this translates directly into a higher sugar yield per ton of raw material, making it a compelling choice for large-scale agricultural enterprises prioritizing processing efficiency.

• Originator: SoyuzSemSvekla (Breeding team: V. A. Sukhorukikh, R. V. Berdnikov).
• Specialization: High-sugar yield.
• Sugar content: 18–20%.
• Origin: Russia.

The breeding strategy employed by SoyuzSemSvekla emphasizes developing genetic material well-adapted to local soil and climate zones. This approach helps mitigate the risks often associated with imported varieties. "Buran" shows robust resistance to common sugar beet diseases, enabling agronomists to optimize plant protection schedules and reduce overall chemical treatment costs.

Market Positioning

"Buran" has established a solid reputation within the market for domestic hybrids. Its adoption is a strategic move for operations seeking reliability and consistent product quality. The hybrid’s stable sugar accumulation, even under temperature fluctuations, allows farmers and sugar factories to forecast performance metrics accurately before the harvest begins, facilitating better long-term business planning.
