The Sudan grass variety "Voronezhevaya 9" belongs to mid-early crops and reaches a height of 170 to 240 cm at cut, and up to 280 cm when harvested for grain. The stems are cylindrical, thin, with moderate bushiness: usually from six to twelve stems per plant. Leaves have a lanceolate shape and are juicy, which ensures high green mass with a yield in the range of 35–60 t/ha.
The seeds of the variety are characterized by membranous, egg-shaped forms with coloring from brown-yellow to brown-red. Seed yield is approximately 1.5–2.5 t/ha, while absolute dry mass is above the average standard for varieties. Rust and red bacterial spot appear weakly, which increases disease resistance.
"Voronezhevaya 9" is distinguished by high drought resistance, ability to improve soil drainage and displace weeds due to rapid growth. At high temperatures up to +45 °C, the plant maintains productivity and also reduces soil salinity. For hay, the optimal sowing rate is 70–100 kg/ha, and the variety responds well to irrigation and agro-factors, making it suitable for both green feed and hay production.
