Sudan grass CONSTANSTIA

Stable yields in drought conditions

When working with Sudan grass, the priority is to get a predictable result with minimal reliance on irrigation. The "Konstantia" variety from RosNIISK "Rossorgo" is a perfect example of a reliable performer that thrives even where other crops start to fade. In fields with variable moisture levels, this variety has proven itself to be a true workhorse: emergence is uniform, development is vigorous, and the regrowth after the first cut is robust and hassle-free.

Harvesting and usage

• Green feed: excellent palatability for livestock with good leafiness.
• Hay: dries efficiently, retaining nutritional value if cut at the right growth stage.
• Silage: produces high-quality biomass that compacts well and ferments reliably.

Operating with this variety is straightforward; it doesn't require any proprietary techniques. The standard Sudan grass management practices work perfectly here. The breeder (FSBSI All-Russian Research Institute of Sorghum and Corn) has focused on drought resistance, and it shows in the field—the root system is powerful enough to carry the plant through dry spells without significant yield loss.

Economic performance

"Konstantia" does not tend to lodge, which makes mowing much easier and ensures cleaner output. For those looking for a proven Russian-bred variety without the marketing fluff, this is a solid, field-tested choice.
