The YANIK variety of Sudan grass is an annual grass widely used as a fodder crop for cattle, horses, and sheep. The grass has a mild taste and pleasant aroma, making it attractive to animals. In fresh form it is rich in nutrients: sugars, proteins, ash, vitamins and minerals.
YANIK is suitable both for producing green mass and for hay, silage and silage. Due to the average maturity period, up to five cuts can be made during one summer, which allows harvesting over 1000 centners of grass per hectare. The plant stem is long, leaves are of medium length and narrow, and the core is dry at maturity.
The variety is characterized by light brown elliptical seeds and moderate anthocyanin coloration of seedlings. The panicle is erect, wider at the lower part, and the spikelet scales turn black at maturity. These features make YANIK convenient for growing and subsequent use in various forms of animal feeding.
