Sea buckthorn TASKHANOVSKAYA

Siberian Resilience for Your Garden

The 'Taskhanovskaya' sea buckthorn, developed by the Siberian Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnology, stands out among conventional varieties due to its impressive durability. While many gardeners struggle to protect their crops from fungal infections, owners of this variety enjoy a more stress-free experience: its genetic resistance to verticillium wilt and endomycosis makes 'Taskhanovskaya' a highly reliable choice for regions with high humidity and significant soil pathogen pressure.

Flavor and Yield Balance

With an average berry weight of 0.5–0.7g, 'Taskhanovskaya' does not chase size records, but it leads in consistency. A yield of 10–15 kg per bush makes it an attractive option not only for home gardens but also for small-scale berry farms. The vibrant orange color and balanced sweet-and-sour flavor allow for versatile culinary applications, from health-focused oils to processing, where that signature sea buckthorn tartness is highly valued.

Who is this variety for?

If your goal is to grow an attractive shrub that also provides a substantial annual harvest, 'Taskhanovskaya' is a solid candidate. Unlike many fussy varieties that require sterile conditions, this hybrid is quite forgiving of minor agrotechnical lapses. Its key advantages include:

• High innate immunity to systemic sea buckthorn diseases.
• Stable fruiting regardless of the unpredictable Siberian climate.
• Strong aesthetic appeal, making it suitable for decorative hedge landscaping.

The trade-off: because the berries are of average size, harvesting is more labor-intensive compared to larger-berried cultivars. However, for a private household, this is offset by the plant's overall robustness and minimal need for chemical plant protection products.
