TATYANA (TATJANA) is a variety of large sea buckthorn of domestic selection, distinguished by medium and large fruit size, weighing from 35 to 60 grams and more. The fruits are round in shape, colored yellow-pink, and the flesh has a bright yellow hue, medium density and juiciness, giving the fruit a sour-sweet taste. The cluster is small and easily separates from the fruit, which facilitates subsequent processing.
TATYANA variety trees grow up to 1.5–3 m as a shrub or reach a height of over 6 m as a tree. They possess high yield and good resistance to cold and adverse weather conditions. The ripening period of fruits is the end of July, and flowering begins in early May. For successful cultivation, bright sunlight and fertile soil with a neutral reaction (pH 6.5–7.0) are required. Irrigation is carried out as needed: usually three times per season – after flowering, after cessation of shoot growth, and when fruits appear. Young plants are watered 4–5 times during the season.
Care for trees includes regular loosening of the soil, pruning to form the shape and sanitary care in the spring period before the leaves open. If necessary, corrective pruning can be carried out in summer. Fruit bushes also require annual top dressing: nitrogen fertilizers before flowering, and in June – phosphorus and potassium. Additionally, mineral element solutions are applied twice per season to maintain plant health. Thanks to these measures, TATYANA ensures a stable yield of high-quality fruits suitable for both direct consumption and processing into jams, compotes, juices, and other products.
