Description BAYAN-GOL HIPPOPHAE Rhamnaceae
Hippophae 'Bayan-gol' is a dwarf shrub growing from one to 1.5 meters in height, without thorns (or with small thorns at the ends of branches). The bark is light brown, shoots are straight and thin. Leaves are small and lanceolate.

The fruits are oval, bright orange with a red blush at the ends, medium-sized – about 0.6 g. The pulp is juicy, sour-sweet, with excellent taste. Sugar content is up to 7%, vitamin C up to 169 mg/100 g, carotene up to 5.5 mg/100 g, and oil up to 5.6%. Fruits easily detach by dry methods.

The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness (frost resistance up to -35 °C), resistance to drying, absence of thorns, dwarf growth, and fast development. Yield reaches 13 t/ha at a planting scheme of 3 × 1 m; in a bush – about 5 kg. Ripening period – mid-August, harvesting begins on August 10.

Bayan-gol is suitable for gardening and commercial cultivation in temperate climates due to early fruiting, resistance to powdery fungi, mite, and endomycosis. The variety is of universal purpose and is easily propagated by cuttings.
