The garden strawberry variety Estafeta represents a powerful, tall plant with a semi-spreading bush form and thick, long flower stalks. This variety was bred in 2004 at the All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture and Nursery Cultures through the crossing of the varieties Nadzhyda and Red Gontlet. Estafeta differs in medium ripening time and universal purpose, making it suitable for various uses.
Estafeta berries are large, bright red, glossy, with a blunt-conical shape and a small neck. The weight of the first berries can reach up to 35 grams, while the average mass is about 16.3 grams. The flesh is red, medium density, with a pleasant sweet-and-sour taste. High fruit set, exceeding 70%, ensures a stable and abundant yield, reaching approximately 243 centners per hectare.
The variety shows enhanced disease resistance, which significantly eases care and reduces crop losses. Estafeta withstands winter conditions well and is suitable for cultivation on slightly acidic soils with a pH from 5.5 to 6.5. Despite overall resistance, the variety may be affected by pests such as strawberry mites, spider mites, and wireworms, as well as diseases including gray mold, powdery mildew, and brown spot. Thanks to its characteristics and qualities, Estafeta strawberry is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking large, tasty berries with good yield.
