Duenya

The Duènya black radish variety is mid-season and distinguished by high yield and the quality of its roots. The vegetation period is 60-75 days, and the root mass varies from 200 to 450 grams. The radish has a round shape with a smooth black surface and dense, juicy white flesh with a sharp-sweet taste without bitterness. The roots do not form cavities, have a thick skin, ensuring good storability and resistance to damage during transportation. The variety is cold-resistant and resistant to powdery mildew, white rot, and blossom end rot, making it reliable for cultivation under various conditions. Duènya prefers light, nutrient-rich soils but negatively reacts to excessive nitrogen fertilizers and high organic matter concentration. For sowing, seeds are planted at the end of June into furrows at a depth of 1-2 cm, with spacing of 35-40 cm between them. After germination, seedlings are thinned to about 10 cm apart. Subsequent care includes regular watering, soil loosening, and maintaining humidity, especially during droughts, as water deficiency reduces root productivity. The radish tolerates low light well and responds positively to watering. The Duènya variety is suitable for cultivation both in open and protected ground.
