Rondeel

Radish Rondeel (Rondeel) is a mid-season variety developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan, intended for open-field cultivation. The vegetation period is 35-40 days from planting, allowing for harvest from spring to autumn. The radish is characterized by high cold tolerance and the ability to withstand slight frosts down to -3 degrees, which extends the sowing and harvesting periods. Recommended sowing density is no more than 200 seeds per square meter, with a sowing depth of 1.5-2.5 cm and a distance between plants of 10-15 cm.

The fruits of the Rondeel variety have a round shape with a diameter of about 4 cm and a mass of approximately 25 grams. The skin is thin but dense and bright red with a glossy surface. The flesh is white, juicy, homogeneous, without hollows and cracks, and has a slightly sharp taste without bitterness. The radish is distinguished by excellent taste qualities, crunchy texture, and the ability to maintain turgor and freshness for a long time during transport and storage in cool conditions. The variety forms a marketable root crop, making it in demand on the fresh market.

Rondeel is resistant to downy mildew and root rot, and is also not susceptible to white rot. It withstands insufficient lighting well but reacts negatively to excess nitrogen and organic fertilizers. Successful cultivation requires regular watering, weed removal, and fertilization. The high productivity of the variety allows for a yield per square meter of 2.5-4.5 kg, making it attractive for commercial cultivation.
