The potato variety Zyryants is a medium-early table variety developed at the Institute of Agrobiotechnology of the Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the RAS and recommended for cultivation in northern regions of Russia, including the Republic of Komi and the Ural region. The plant has a low to medium stature, semi-erect growth habit, leaves ranging from light green to green, and a medium-sized flower with moderate anthocyanin coloring. Tubers have an oval-round shape, yellow skin, and light-yellow flesh, giving them an attractive appearance and good consumer qualities. The average maturity period is 65-80 days, allowing for harvest within relatively short timeframes. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 87 to 123 grams, and the number of tubers per plant reaches 7-10. The starch content varies between 12.3-16.4%, making this variety versatile for various culinary purposes, including salads, soups, and frying. The taste is rated as good, and the culinary type AB indicates its high nutritional value. Zyryants is characterized by high yield — from 249 to 378 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 470 centners. It is resistant to several diseases, including late blight, rizoctonia, common scab, potato cancer, and golden cyst nematode, significantly simplifying care and reducing crop losses. Additionally, the variety exhibits good storability — up to 94% — ensuring prolonged storage of tubers without quality loss. All these characteristics make Zyryants a reliable and popular variety for cultivation in northern and Ural regions.
