Description Platina
The potato variety Platina is a mid-early table variety with a vegetation period of 65 to 80 days. The plant is of medium height, intermediate type, with a semi-upright or spreading bush form. Leaves vary from light green to green, medium to large size, with slightly wavy edges. Flowers are small and white. Tubers are elongated-oval, with small eyes, smooth or medium-smooth yellow skin, and light-yellow flesh. The marketable tuber mass ranges from 60 to 117 grams, and the number of tubers per plant reaches 9-14. Starch content in tubers is 9.8-10.5%, slightly below standard levels, but the taste is rated as good, and its culinary type AB makes it versatile for salads, soups, and frying.

The Platina variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 190 to 258 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 265 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding standard varieties. Tubers have a marketability of 82-95%, and storability reaches 94%, ensuring good product storage. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central region of Russia, especially on sandy soils after lupine, which promotes stable and high yields.

Special attention is given to the variety's disease resistance: Platina exhibits resistance to potato cancer and golden potato cyst nematode, which is an important advantage for maintaining healthy crops. However, the variety is moderately susceptible to late blight on tubers and susceptible to foliage, and also prone to common scab. These characteristics require appropriate agronomic measures for plant protection. Overall, the Platina variety is valued for its stable yield, uniform tubers, high marketability, and storability, making it an attractive choice for farmers and consumers.
