Description Fresko
Fresco potato is an early-maturing, versatile variety characterized by high yield and good consumer qualities. Medium-height plants with white flowers produce round-oval tubers with yellow skin and light-yellow flesh. The average marketable tuber weight ranges from 100 to 130 grams, with 7 to 12 tubers per plant. Starch content in tubers is 12-17%, making this variety suitable for processing into potato products, including chips. The tubers have a good flavor, further enhancing their appeal to consumers.

The Fresco variety is resistant to several diseases, including potato blight and potato nematodes, ensuring stable yields. However, it exhibits moderate resistance to viral diseases, rizoctonia, and common scab. It is susceptible to foliar late blight but relatively resistant in tubers; therefore, timely plant protection and harvesting before widespread blight development are recommended. Pre-sprouting tubers and applying moderate nitrogen fertilizers can improve cultivation efficiency.

The maturation period of the variety is 70-80 days, enabling early harvests, and in southern regions, it may allow for two crops per year. Tubers have a storage life of 78-93%, but the variety is prone to early sprouting, which should be considered during storage. Fresco is well-adapted to cultivation across various regions of Russia, including the Northern, Northwestern, Volga-Vyatka, West Siberian, and Far Eastern regions. Due to its characteristics and resistance to pests and diseases, this variety is a profitable choice for farmers focused on early harvests and potato processing.
