Description Ukama
The Ukama potato variety is an early-maturing table variety of Dutch selection, intended for cultivation in the Northwest and Central regions of Russia. The tubers have an elongated-oval shape with smooth yellow skin and light-yellow flesh. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 92 to 179 grams, and the number of tubers per plant reaches 9-13. The vegetation period is 65-75 days, allowing harvest as early as July-August when sown in May.

The variety is characterized by high yield — from 2.1 to 4.1 kg per square meter or 210-410 centners per hectare. Ukama has good consumer qualities: the tubers have a pleasant taste, culinary type CD, making it versatile for boiling, baking, and making mashed potatoes. The storage capacity of the variety is about 92%, ensuring good storage of the harvest.

The variety's resistance is expressed in resistance to potato cyst nematode and golden nematode, but it is susceptible to late blight and common scab. For successful cultivation, standard agronomic practices with a planting scheme of 60 x 35 cm and sowing depth of 8-10 cm are recommended. Ukama potato is ideal for table use due to its combination of early maturity, high tuber quality, and resistance to several diseases.
