Flayron sunflower is a medium-early simple hybrid of intensive type, developed by the Ukrainian company ART-AGRO and registered in the Ukrainian Plant Variety Register in 2018. It was created using interline hybridization and is intended for conventional cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Steppe regions of Ukraine. The vegetative period ranges from 105 to 112 days, enabling the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions. The plant has a medium height of about 160 cm, with medium-sized leaf blades and moderately green coloration. Flowering begins early, and the flower head is of medium diameter (18-20 cm), thin and convex, containing medium-sized seeds with an elongated-oval shape. Flayron exhibits high drought and stress resistance, ensuring stable yields of up to 52-54 centners per hectare depending on the region. The hybrid is resistant to 7 races of downy mildew (A-G) and possesses biological resistance to race 730 of false powdery mildew (EuroLightning). The high oil content in the seeds, reaching 50-52%, makes this sunflower attractive for oil production. Additionally, the hybrid demonstrates good flower head pollination and high seed uniformity — around 99% — which contributes to even and high-quality planting. Seed protection is achieved using carbendazim and metalaxyl-M, enhancing resistance to diseases and improving germination. The recommended plant density varies by region: 65-75 thousand plants per hectare in the Forest-Steppe and 60-65 thousand in the Steppe. Thanks to its morpho-biological and agronomic characteristics, Flayron sunflower is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high and stable yields with high oil content under Ukrainian climatic conditions.
